The First Super
In the work “The First Super” we bring our backgrounds together (Germany, France, Turkey, Ukraine and Switzerland) and juxtapose them to our various understandings of spirituality. We draw inspiration from historic depictions of saints and question what is sacred in our eyes now. Thereby the body becomes a temple that we inhabit. We experimentally explore and expand our physical presence in space. Thereby we speculate about the future, where normative beliefs are abandoned and a space is possible, where different religions and identities coexist. Integrating bright lights, that are used in clubs and concerts we think the future religion as popular phenomenon, that transcend the walls of the church, the mosque or other classical religious spaces.
Somebody*ies Collective (FR,DE,CH)
Somebody*ies is a collective of six French-German-Swiss artists, Anna Byskov (Mulhouse), Nika Timashkova (Basel), Apo Yasa (Freiburg im Breisgau), Stella Meris (Weil am Rhein), Christina Huber (Berlin), Hannah Kindler (Freiburg im Breisgau). The collective and network wants to create more visibility for the stories and work of FLINTA* (women, lesbians, inter-, non-binary, trans and agender) and queer people as they, along with other marginalized groups, have experienced discrimination by patriarchal and heteronormative structures. We work in a transdisciplinary way and combine diverse media such as paintings, performance, installation, video and VR. We represent a queer-feminist, ecological and anti-capitalist perspective and collectively ask questions about authorship and solidarity within the artistic context. Our main interests revolve around gender, spirituality and cultural identities.
